The Society has held its first Council and Forum meeting of the academic year. Alongside attending to the work of the Society we always factor in time for networking, lunching and catching up, and on the agenda we included refreshing our Policy Watch document that helps us focus on issues we can affect; and also to support and influence the work of The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Art, Craft and Design in Education.

Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) are organising a learning forum event on 1 November in the MGS offices, Edinburgh from 10am to 3.30pm.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate successes, share lessons learned and to set the agenda and action plans to support museum learning provision.
MGS have also been conducting a mapping exercise to establish the level of learning provision for children and young people aged 0 to 16 years in Scotland’s museums. It is hoped that the research will help to: Gain a better understanding of how museums are delivering against the national learning outcomes; Identify gaps and aid advocacy for your work and gelp attendance.
To help attendance, small travel bursaries are available.

Do you have a passion for teaching textiles?
The Textile Study Group, a UK-based teaching and exhibiting group, are delighted to be able to offer a yearly bursary to anyone involved in the teaching of textiles and/or embroidery wishing to pursue a new skill, personal development or for a project which will have a direct effect on their students and/or teaching. They would particularly like to encourage teachers that are at the start of their career to apply. The bursary will be for £500 and the application process closes on 30 Nov2018.
