Reach Awarded £100k

Willis Newson is facilitating the management of REACH, a new Arts Council funded arts and health initiative for the South West. Partnerships between public health providers and arts organisations, in Bristol, Devon and Somerset, will deliver creative and imaginative projects to address public health priorities and provide the basis for long term sustainable partnership working.

REACH will be coordinated by Alex Coulter and is supported by Dr Gabriel Scally, Director of Public Health, NHS South West and a Steering Group whose membership includes representatives from Asian Arts Agency, Second Step Housing Association, Aune Head Arts, Devon Partnership Trust, For All Healthy Living Centre, Weston-Super-Mare, Picture This, Somerset Primary Care Trust, Take Art, Arts Council England, South West, Arts and Health South West and NHS South West.

Study Concludes Hospital Arts Week Should Go Ahead

Commissioned by Arts Council England, Willis Newson recently completed a study to assess the feasibility of a national Hospital Arts Week which would promote and publicise arts and health projects in England’s acute hospitals.

The study found that the main objectives of the sector are to promote and publicise activity and evidence, develop strategic partnerships and resources, advocate to government and other strategic bodies, network across regions, support the professional development of practitioners and share best practice.

The report concluded that a celebratory Hospital Arts Week could support these objectives.

The Arts Council is currently waiting on the announcement of its new Corporate Plan later this summer before the study’s recommendations can be considered.

Jane Returns

Jane is now enjoying two nappy-free days in the office as she returns from maternity leave following the birth of Evie last November.

“It has been great having time out to enjoy Evie and her older brother Theo,” says Jane. “But it is wonderful to come back to such a strong and healthy company. The team have done a fantastic job, not just at delivering projects but also at continually improving the way we work. I am very much looking forward to building on this over coming months.”
